Golf’s greatest legends to play the Gary Player designed course in 2020
NAPLES, Fla. – The Chubb Classic announced today that the tournament will return to The Classics Country Club at Lely Resort from February 10-16, 2020. Marking its 33rd year in Southwest Florida, this will be the second consecutive year and third year overall that The Classics Country Club at Lely Resort will host this prestigious PGA TOUR Champions tournament.
“The Classics Country Club at Lely Resort is incredibly honored to return as hosts of the 2020 Chubb Classic,” said General Manager David Leverant. “We’re excited to once again showcase our beautiful course to players and fans across the country.”
Designed by the Chubb Classic’s inaugural champion, Gary Player, The Classics Country Club at Lely Resort welcomed a strong field of competitors and thousands of spectators to the 2019 tournament. Miguel Angel Jiménez claimed his first Chubb Classic title after a one-hole playoff with Bernhard Langer and Olin Browne. Jiménez joined an impressive list of past Chubb Classic champions such as Langer, Al Geiberger and Fred Couples.
“The Chubb Classic attracts the best field on Tour year after year due to Naples’ reputation in the game of golf,” said Tournament Director, Kevin Diaz. “We look forward to returning to a course that has been a part of our longstanding history.”
In addition to championship golf, the Chubb Classic will continue to host a variety of ancillary events such as the Taste of SW Florida, the Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge and Subway® restaurants Family Putt for Dough. Tickets for the tournament will be available later this fall. For more information about the Chubb Classic, please visit ChubbClassic.com or call the Tournament Office at (239) 593-3900.
